Amanda C. Garcia, FNP-C, is a health care provider shaped by the knowledge and experiences shared by her patients. Finding that "no day is the same," she loves the diversity of the people she treats and challenges herself every day to continue providing the best care she can. While taking care of her mother during cancer treatment, Garcia saw the impact that compassion and kindness meant to her mother during her care. As a result, these became the foundation of her treatment philosophy. "I always remember the ones who were kind and compassionate with her, and the impact that had on her case and treatment," she said, adding that "the burden of disease does not affect only the individual, but families, too. Health is really a gift to ourselves and our loved ones." As a health care provider, she sees access to care as one of the biggest issues facing our community and is a big proponent of preventive care. "Too many patients are not receiving preventive services," she said, "and seeking medical attention when diseases have progressed." Originally from Nogales, Arizona, Garcia studied at Northern Arizona University and the University of Arizona. While she initially moved to further her education, Garcia loves Tucson for its unique ability to be a big city while feeling like a small town and continues to find and discover new things about Tucson and Arizona.
